What Is The ‘Devil In Ohio’ Plot About?
The planned limited series is based on Polatin’s novel of the same name. The tale is based on a true story of an adolescent girl. After fleeing a Satanic cult, the young woman moved into the home of a psychiatrist’s family.
Polatin mentioned in an interview with Book Room Revies that she was inspired to write about people after spending time in secluded regions. She then heard a true story about a young woman who left a satanic cult. She became the model for her book.
“Then I had to recount the true story of a teenage girl who fled from a satanic cult and went in with her psychiatrist’s family,” Polatin said in the interview.
“Writing that narrative as a novel seemed like an interesting way to tell it, and the genuine events provided the basis for Mae, Jules, and the Mathis family.” “Devil in Ohio tackles the perennial conflict between good and evil, as well as the resilience required to overcome misfortune in one’s history.”
“When Jules Mathis, fifteen, returns home from school to find a strange girl sitting in her kitchen, her psychiatrist mother confesses that Mae is one of her hospital patients and will be staying with their family for a few days.” Mae, on the other hand, is soon wearing Jules’ clothes, sleeping in her room, moving Jules out of her position on the school paper, and flirting with Jules’ crush. And Mae has no plans to go.
Then things start to get strange. Jules walks in on a half-dressed Mae and is taken aback by what he sees: a pentagram etched into Mae’s back. Jules puts together evidence and realises that Mae is a survivor of a bizarre cult in a nearby town. And the cult will go to any length to reclaim Mae.
The book is based on a true story, the details of which I will not reveal, but most of what happens in the book definitely happened. I used artistic licence to fill in the voids and flesh out the plot in a way that would work for a book.”
