What Message Is The Ending Attempting To Convey?
The film’s conclusion appears to be a criticism on society’s fetishization of violence and gore. At the start of the film, we see Fabrizio filming footage for his “travel vlog.” While this appears to be benign at first glance, it demonstrates the lengths to which people would go to create a situation only for the purpose of amusement.
Fabrizio and his family take advantage of people’s morbid fascination with violence by staging genuine killings and passing them off as folklore. The fact that neither we nor the fictitious viewers could identify the difference (at least at first) demonstrates how willing we are to suspend our disbelief for the sake of amusement.
Even Elisa’s last appearance on the beach displays a distorted view of entertaining. Instead of assisting her, beachgoers stand around watching her walk into the sea and filming the scene on their phones. It’s only a matter of time before they put their phones down long enough to seek her assistance.

What About The Ending Of The Film Is Unusual For A Horror Film?
Most horror films conclude with a resolution of the core conflict, and part of the allure of such films is that the horrors that precede it have a definite end, allowing spectators to relax.
A Classic Horror Story, on the other hand, proves to be an exception. While Elisa manages to flee her tormentors, the postcredits scene implies that Fabrizio’s film is still available on a fake streaming site called Bloodflix, and that the mafia kept her on-camera murder of Fabrizio hidden.
The end credits pan to a computer screen, where a man is shown participating in an online discussion with other moviegoers. He watches the beginning and conclusion of the movie before giving it a “thumbs down,” but his dissatisfaction has no influence on what looks to be a successful service that continues to stream without repercussions.
No one believes the movies are real, and one of the users even wants Elisa would “croak,” despite the fact that she is a real victim. The film’s conclusion is depressing, as the snuff-film industry thrives despite the efforts of the main protagonist.
