Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan feature in Scott Cooper’s supernatural horror film Antlers, which was released in 2021. C. Henry Chaisson, Nick Antosca, and Cooper wrote the script, which was based on Antosca’s short story “The Quiet Boy,” which was first published in Guernica magazine in January 2019.

The story follows a schoolteacher who assumes one of her students is dealing with personal issues at home, not realising that the kid is hiding a hazardous thing in his home.

The project was announced in July 2018, with Cooper set to direct and the cast set to begin filming the following month. In October and November of 2018, filming took place in British Columbia.

What Happened in the Movie: Antlers?

When Ellen goes missing, Julia goes to the Weaver house and finds Ellen’s automobile. When the cops come, they find Ellen’s body, as well as Frank’s, which is now a burnt husk. Aiden has vanished without a trace. When Lucas returns home, he is taken to the hospital, where Julia and Paul are informed that he is very emaciated, dehydrated, and exhibits physical symptoms of abuse over a long period of time. Julia chooses to keep Lucas with her.

Antlers

Julia and Paul pay Warren a visit the next day, while Lucas is recovering in the hospital, and exhibit him Lucas’s drawings. Warren recognizes the apparition as a wendigo, a mythical Algonquin entity that manifests itself as a hungry, cannibalistic ghost that jumps from person to person.

It can only be killed when it is at its most vulnerable: when it is feeding. That night, Clint’s body is discovered. Lucas gets released and discovers that Frank is no longer alive. He informs Julia that Frank would be bringing him down to the mine to be with Aiden.

Antlers

Aiden is used by the altered Frank to lure Paul’s fellow sheriff Dan out and kill him. Julia and Lucas take cover while Paul is seriously injured. Julia and Paul, armed with a pistol, chase Lucas down to the mine.

Julia discovers Lucas and Aiden inside, as well as the fact that Frank has turned into a wendigo and is currently munching on a dead black bear. She kills the wendigo-possessed Frank with Lucas’ help after a scuffle.
