Black Adam is an upcoming American superhero film based on the same-named DC Comics character. It is intended to be a spin-off from Shazam! (2019) and the eleventh film in the DC Extended Universe, produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo., and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (DCEU).
The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam / Black Adam opposite Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script by Adam Sztykiel, Sohrab Noshirvani, and Rory Haines.
Johnson was attached to Shazam! early in development and confirmed in September 2014 that he would play the villain Black Adam. In January 2017, the filmmakers decided to give the character his own film, and Sztykiel was recruited that October. In June 2019, Collet-Serra joined with a release date of December 2021 slated, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed it delayed.
Over the next year, further casting took place, notably for members of the Justice Society of America (JSA), and the script was rewritten by Haines and Noshirvani. From April to August 2021, filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Los Angeles.
What is the Movie About?
The movie will be a spin-off and sequel to Shazam!, focusing on the DC Comics villain/antihero Black Adam. Though the 2019 film laid the groundwork for a Black Adam picture, plot elements remain hazy at the moment. Fans were treated to a rare behind-the-scenes peek at the film at the DC FanDome.
Johnson gave fans a sneak glimpse at the film’s opening sequence. This scene showed the hero entering the contemporary world after his tomb was discovered.
Release Date of Black Adam
On October 21, 2022, Black Adam will arrive. Dwayne Johnson revealed the transfer on Instagram in early March.

Origin of Black Adam
Black Adam’s origin begins millennia ago, when the Wizard Shazam was looking for a successor to his power and duty as ancient Egypt’s guardian. In the fictional nation of Kahndaq, he meets the wise and just prince Teth Adam, whom he imbues with SHAZAM!-like powers.
Unlike SHAZAM!, however, Black Adam invokes Egyptian mythological gods rather than Greek gods.
When the immortal threat Vandal Savage and a villain named Akh-Ton use the Orb of Ra to destroy his nation of Kahndaq, Teth Adam loses control and embarks on a rampage, prompting the Wizard to seal him in a magical scarab buried in a tomb.
The scarab is discovered centuries later by Theo Adam, the treacherous assistant of archaeologists C.C. and Mary Batson – Billy Batson’s parents. When the scarab’s magic is activated, Theo becomes Black Adam’s mortal counterpart, just as Billy is SHAZAM alter ‘s ego.
