Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, or simply The Secrets of Dumbledore, is an upcoming fantasy film directed by David Yates and based on a screenplay written by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. It is the third instalment in the Fantastic Beasts film series and the eleventh overall in the Wizarding World franchise. It is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018).
Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen star in the film. Set some years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald, it depicts Albus Dumbledore assigning Newt Scamander and his companions to a mission that would take them deep into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald’s army.
The film’s principal filming was scheduled to begin in early 2020, however it was postponed because to the COVID-19 epidemic, which would begin in September 2020. Following the pandemic delays and the replacement of Johnny Depp with Mikkelsen, the film’s release date was pushed back to July 15, 2022, then to April 8, 2022 in the UK and April 15, 2022 in the US. Two more Fantastic Beasts movies are in the works.
Set in the 1930s, the plot builds up to the Wizarding World’s involvement in World War II, and will visit magical societies in Bhutan, Germany, and China, as well as previously established locales such as the United States and the United Kingdom. With Gellert Grindelwald’s influence expanding, Albus Dumbledore assigns Newt Scamander and his companions to a mission that would lead to a clash with Grindelwald’s army. Dumbledore must also decide how long he will remain impartial in the coming conflict.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: Plot
The first Wonderful Monsters and Where to Find Them film follows Newt Scamander as he journeys to America with his magical suitcase full of, well, fantastic beasts. The majority of the plot revolves around Newt’s animals being mistakenly released in 1920s New York City and him working to collect them with the help of witches Tina and Queenie Goldstein and muggle Jacob Kowalski, but the climax revealed that the film’s true antagonist was Gellert Grindelwald, a notoriously dark wizard.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald retained several new and fantastic creatures, but the storyline moved to Newt working for Hogwarts Professor Albus Dumbledore to track down and stop Grindelwald. The film concluded with our gang of heroes separated and Grindelwald building a following as he intends to wage war on muggles.
Plot information for the third film (the third of a projected five-picture series) are being kept under wraps, with the IMDb summary just reading: “The third episode of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series, which recounts the adventures of Newt Scamander.” However, given the title The Secrets of Dumbledore, we may anticipate Jude Law’s rendition of the figure to play a greater role in the film.
