Plot Explanation:
A little boy named Jeremy is left in the care of 21-year-old Corey Cunningham on Halloween night in 2019. Jeremy plays a practical joke on Corey by locking him in the attic. Corey mistakenly knocks open the door just as Jeremy’s parents arrive home, killing him by throwing him over the railing of the staircase. Corey is accused of murdering Jeremy on purpose but is exonerated of manslaughter.
Even though Michael Myers has disappeared, the effects of his most recent killing spree in 2018 are still being felt in the Illinois community of Haddonfield. Laurie Strode, who recently purchased a new home and moved in with her granddaughter Allyson, who is currently a nurse, is writing a book. Corey is currently employed at his stepfather’s salvage yard. He gets ridiculed by high school bullies one day as he makes his way home, hurting himself in the process.
He is brought to the medical practice where Allyson works by Laurie, who is observing. At a Halloween party when Corey is confronted by Jeremy’s mother, Allyson and Corey start dating. Corey leaves the party after arguing with Allyson, whereupon he runs into the bullies, who then hurl him off a bridge. He is brought into the sewers where Michael confronts him before letting him go. A homeless man approaches Corey as he is leaving. Corey stabs the man to death during the scuffle, then runs away.
At their dinner date, Corey and Allyson are both harassed by Allyson’s ex-boyfriend, police officer Doug Mulaney. Later, Corey draws the officer into the sewer. Doug is killed by Michael, much to Corey’s delight. At work, a fellow nurse who is having an affair with the doctor is given a promotion instead of Allyson. After that, Michael kills the nurse while Corey murders the doctor at his house.
Due to the past trauma, an unaware Allyson is preparing to leave Haddonfield with an insistent Corey, while Laurie grows warier of Corey. Laurie promises to assist him after seeing him sleeping where Jeremy died, but only if he keeps Allyson at a distance. In response, Corey accuses her of being responsible for the happenings in Haddonfield and claims that if he cannot have Allyson, no one else will.
On October 31, Corey makes a triumphant return to the sewers and challenges Michael for his mask. Allyson is about to leave when Laurie and Allyson start fighting, and Allyson also holds Laurie responsible for Michael’s behavior. That evening, after leading the bullies to the salvage yard, Corey goes on the attack and inadvertently kills his stepfather before killing the thugs. He continues by killing his mother and the radio station DJ who had earlier made fun of him.
In an effort to draw Corey to her at the Strode residence, Laurie pretends to commit suicide before shooting him down the stairs. Then, in front of Allyson, who has just arrived, Corey stabs himself in the neck to blame Laurie for his passing. Michael kills Corey when he appears out of nowhere. Following the altercation, Laurie is able to pin Michael to the table.
Allyson shows up after a struggle to assist in capturing and killing him. His body is taken by Laurie and Allyson to the salvage yard under police protection, where they dispose of it in an industrial shredder while being followed by Haddonfield residents in a procession. Allyson and Laurie reconcile in the days that follow, and Allyson departs Haddonfield, while Laurie completes her memoir and rediscovers her love for Deputy Hawkins.
