Jungle Cruise is an American fantasy action-adventure film. Jungle Cruise was released in the United States on July 30, 2021, simultaneously in cinemas and online through Disney+ with Premier Access, after a year of post-production and a year of extra delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with music composed by James Newton Howard. The picture made $220 million worldwide despite a $200 million production budget. A sequel with Johnson and Blunt reprising their roles is in the works.
Jungle Cruise: Ending Explained
At the climax of Jungle Cruise, Lily and Frank uncover the location of Tears of the Moon, triggering a mechanism that drains a section of the Amazon River and unveils a cave containing the tree. However, Prince Joachim has kidnapped Lily’s brother, compelling him to divulge the location of the tree.
Frank, Lily, Joachim’s Germans, and the Spaniards all rush to the cave in search of the tree’s petals. After discovering a diamond within the arrowhead, Lily and Frank set it in a device that allows the Tears of the Moon to blossom.
The tree, however, can only blossom during the blood moon, and it swiftly wilts, leaving Lily the only one with an unwilted petal. McGregor eventually kills Joachim, and Frank dams the river, halting the cursed conquistadors and turning them to stone.
However, in an earlier surprise, The Rock’s Frank Wolff revealed that he, too, was a conquistador. As a result, he also turns to stone. Lily uses the petal to save her riverboat captain and break the curse, transforming him back into a mortal.
She is then rewarded as another petal blooms due to a beam of moonlight. McGregor appears in the conclusion, denying the Royal Society explorers an invitation and rejecting them as they previously harshly rejected him and his sister. He mentions that his sister is now a professor at Cambridge, implying that Lily brought the petal back to London and has become well-known for her efforts to cure the world of sickness.
During their Amazon trip, Lily and Frank fell in love with one other. The film concludes with the couple enjoying life together in London and preparing to return in a Jungle Cruise sequel.
