Jin-Soo Is Forced To Confront His Past
In the film’s conclusion, Ae-ran has lured Cheong-seok and Jin-soo to the temple where the black eye was initially placed, working as a tool for the red-eye. The red-eye just needs to possess the sacred defender of the black eye to achieve its purpose now that it has possessed Dong-jin. Jin-soo believes he has been entrusted with these responsibilities, so he sets out to set up a spiritual trap for the demon, using himself as bait.
When the possessed Dong-jin arrives, the demon explains that Jin-soo is not the black eye’s defender because he was never legally ordained as a monk. Cheong-seok is in charge of this task. Jin-soo is trapped against a tree by the demon who has taken possession of the younger monk. As the apocalypse approaches, the devil provides Jin-soo with the opportunity to savour retribution. We discovered earlier in the film that Jin-family soo’s was murdered by a drunk driver who then killed herself, leaving her child behind. It’s implied that that child grew up to be none other than Cheong-seok.
Jin-soo is told to kill the child by the devil, which appears in the appearance of a child. Instead, Jin-soo draws a mystical incantation on the child’s face with the blood from his injuries. This confuses the monster. When it leaps from Cheong-body seok’s into Jin- soo’s, Cheong-seok is able to kill it with an enchanted axe, putting an end to the impending apocalypse.
The earth is saved from extinction in the end, and the red-eye is returned to its proper resting place. While the stakes of “The 8th Night” are global in scope, it is the protagonists’ intimate emotional problems that matter in the end.
